Property Management is JUST Like Motherhood
Meeting with my team in the morning is something I look forward to. I hear all about dinner, what is going on with the kids/partner. Who didn’t sleep well, what baby cried all night, who got stuck in this ATL traffic and who cannot wait to get off work (lol). My leasing agents always cannot wait to get off work. They are young and fun!
We enjoy our coffee, eat some banana or zucchini bread that I am always baking and then I run plays and lay stats. Our leasing rate is, our occupancy is, we need X leases today! Here is my HOT List. Lease them and we are going to get Mani Pedi’s. This is how much money we will collect today, these are the units we need to walk today. We have X outstanding work orders. I HATE outstanding service requests. Get this done. Today.
Ms. Ruth in 20 B had surgery last week, lets check on her. Sam, is your radio working? I called you yesterday and you did not answer. Don’t make me have to find you today. Does anyone need anything? Everyone have the tools they need to be successful? If yes, wonderful. If not, I get it. I do not want to hear any excuses in tomorrows recap! All I want to hear is check. Check. Check.
I light candles in my office, check on my plants, start reading and responding to 200 emails, call the council person back, pay vendors, check in with the courtesy officer, see what the suits in corporate need, tell that little boy that just dropped paper in front of my clubhouse to PICK IT UP. Why isn’t he in school? Did Sue get the TPO? Dude kicked down the door, go outside at WHOOSAh and figure out what I want for lunch in an hour. Its 11:15. The suits always are trying to get me off site. Nope. This is where the action is.
