The present and the past collided in the Riverboat incident in Montgomery, Alabama yesterday in a way that has awakened the righteous, terrified the guilty and outraged the numb.

Some people have underestimated the significance of this ass whooping moment sanctioned by our ancestors.

Black men in historic Alabama were not allowed to make eye contact with white men, let alone tell them what to do. Even if they wore a uniform, carried a badge or was performing security officer duties.

A racist platoon boat operating family defied the lawful command of a black security guard and then attacked him. Not only did he fight back, but his spirit sounded an alarm that beckoned the warriors to come to his defense. Their defense. Our defense.

Ancestral energy rose from the river and fought battles that were lost in 1823, 1923, 1953, 1973 and possibly 1983.

This was a brief and sweet moment of reckoning.

In a place where black people were terrorized, abused and stripped of humanity in a single moment was redefined.

What used to be the auction block is now the freedom block.

White men used to be able to attack and assault black people, now they get the ass whooping they deserve.

To the misguided this was violent. To the woke it was just and to the spiritual it was retribution.
